Custom Foam Cover for Rode Wireless GO II — Branded for Creators
The Rode Wireless GO II is the best-selling wireless lavalier in the UK. A branded foam fixes the wind-noise problem and turns the transmitter into a moving brand asset.
The Rode Wireless GO II is the best-selling clip-on wireless mic for content creators in the UK and most of Europe. Run-and-gun vloggers, real-estate agents, fitness influencers, and small podcasts all use it because it's small, dual-channel, and just works.
But there are two problems with the GO II as it comes:
- Wind noise destroys outdoor takes. The stock metal grille has no real windshielding.
- The transmitter is tiny and forgettable. When it's clipped to a lapel on camera, you've got branding real estate the size of a postage stamp — but nothing on it.
A custom-printed foam windshield fixes both. Here's what to know.
Why wireless mics need a foam windshield
A wireless lavalier sits much closer to the subject's mouth than a desk mic — usually 15–20 cm away. That proximity means breath, lip noise, and ambient air all hit the capsule harder.
Stock metal grilles do nothing against air. A purpose-built foam (sometimes called a "dead cat" for furrier versions) absorbs the rushing air before it hits the capsule. Even 5 mph wind — basically a brisk walk — produces a loud rumble in the recording without one.
For indoor vlogs and stationary podcasts, you might get away with the bare mic. The moment you step outside or move quickly, the foam earns its place.
What "custom" means for the GO II
Our foam covers for the Rode Wireless GO II come in two shapes:
- Rectangular slot cover — slides over the transmitter so the entire visible face becomes brand surface. Best for on-camera branding.
- Cylindrical windshield — covers just the capsule end. Maximum acoustic protection, minimum visual footprint.
Both are dye-sublimated onto PU foam — print colours stay vibrant, edges stay crisp, and the ink doesn't transfer or rub off.
Use cases we see most
YouTubers and lifestyle creators. A branded lavalier on screen for hours of content per week stacks brand impressions faster than any sticker.
Property and real-estate agents. Walking tours of houses are typically shot with a GO II on the agent's collar. A foam printed with the agency's logo turns the agent into a moving brand asset.
Wedding videographers. Subtle but professional — a foam in the agency's brand colour matches the rest of the videographer's kit.
Small podcasts on location. Many shows record their best episodes outside the studio. Branded foam means the visual identity travels with you.
Sizing and fit
The GO II transmitter has a fixed-size grille area. Both our covers are precision-cut for the transmitter so it slides on snug — no Velcro or adhesive needed.
The foam adds about 2 mm of thickness around the transmitter, which doesn't affect any of the GO II's clipping mechanisms.
Sound impact
In our own tests recording outdoors with and without the windshield:
- Without foam: wind noise above ~80 Hz dominates the recording at any speed above walking pace.
- With foam: wind noise pushed below the noise floor up to ~10 mph.
For indoor speech, frequency response is unchanged within ±0.3 dB at 1 kHz. You won't hear a difference.
What to upload
For best print results:
- Vector logo (SVG, AI, or PDF) — sharp at any size.
- One brand colour, not five. Foam dye sub looks cleanest with high-contrast designs.
- Avoid fine lines under 1 mm thick. Small details blur on the foam's micro-texture.
We proof every design before printing. If your file would print badly we'll come back to you before charging anything to your card.
