Branded mugs: a buyer's guide for companies
A branded mug sits on a desk for years and gets looked at a dozen times a day, which is why it is the one promotional item that keeps earning its cost. The difference between a mug that lasts and one that fades is how the logo is put on. Here is what to know.
How the logo gets onto the mug
Our mugs are dye-sublimated: the design is printed onto transfer paper and then heat-pressed at high temperature so the ink turns to gas and bonds into the mug's polymer coating. The logo ends up inside the glaze, not stuck onto it. That is why a sublimated mug is dishwasher-safe and does not scratch, peel or fade in normal office use, where a cheaper pad-printed or vinyl-labelled mug will. It also means full colour costs the same as one colour, and a photo prints as cleanly as a logo.
The mug
The standard is an 11 oz white ceramic mug, the office size, printed wrap-around so the logo can sit on the left for right-handed drinkers, on the right, or on both sides. The wrap covers the full outside of the mug from handle to handle, so a company colour can fill the whole body with the logo reversed out of it.
Small quantities are fine
There is no minimum order. Branded mugs in small quantities, ten for a new team, twenty-five for a client event, are priced on the same scale as a run of five hundred, just higher up it. Because every mug is printed individually, a run can also mix designs: a company logo on all of them and a different name on each, or three departments with three colours, at no extra cost.

Artwork
A vector logo (SVG, PDF, AI, EPS) prints sharpest; a PNG at 300 dpi works. The printable area is roughly 20 cm × 8 cm around the mug. Keep anything important 1 cm from the top and bottom edges and away from the handle join. White in the artwork is the mug's own white, so a white logo on a coloured panel is printed as the panel with the logo knocked out. We send a free proof with the design wrapped on a mug so you can see exactly where it falls.
Care and lifespan
Dishwasher-safe on a normal cycle. Sublimation prints keep their colour for years of daily use. Mugs are ceramic and will chip if dropped, which is the only way we have seen one fail.
Timing and reorders
Production is one to two working days after you approve the proof, with a paid next-day option when an event is close. Standard UK delivery is free and takes three to four working days after dispatch; London offices can collect from Spelman Street in E1. We keep the file, so a reorder for new starters needs only a quantity. Do you send a proof before printing?+
Always. Send your logo (any format — vector is ideal but a good PNG works) and we email a free digital mockup of the finished mug. Nothing is printed until you approve it, and two rounds of revisions are included.
Can you invoice our company instead of paying by card?+
Yes — for larger orders we can raise a VAT invoice for bank transfer. Message us with the quantity and your company details and we will send a quote and invoice the same day.
