Step and repeat banners — logo backdrops printed in London
A step and repeat banner is the repeating-logo wall people stand in front of for photos: sponsor logos at a launch, the company and charity marks at an awards night, a hashtag at a wedding. We print it full colour on 440gsm weatherproof PVC with hemmed edges and eyelets every 50cm, at any size up to 5m wide, so it ties to a frame, a wall or a truss. A standard 2.4m × 2.4m photo wall is around £400; a 2m × 1m desk backdrop about £140.

Step and repeat banners: layout rules, sizes and stands
A step and repeat wall only works if a full logo appears behind every person in every photo. That is a layout problem before it is a printing one, and it is the part most people get wrong when they design their own. This is how we set them up.
The layout rules
- Logos sit in a diagonal grid, alternating rows, so a person standing anywhere in front has a complete logo over each shoulder.
- Logo width 20 to 25 cm, with 10 to 15 cm of space between them. Smaller than that and a head covers a whole logo; larger and only part of one is in a head-and-shoulders shot.
- Two logos (a host and a sponsor) alternate in the same grid. Three or more are rotated in rows so none dominates; if one sponsor has paid for prominence, it gets every other position.
- Keep the bottom 40 cm free of anything important: it is behind people's legs and usually cropped.
Send the logos as vector files or large PNGs and we build the grid, then show you a proof with a person-sized silhouette so you can see what a photo will capture.
Sizes
The classic press wall is 2.4 m × 2.4 m, which frames one or two people full length. For groups and red-carpet lines, 3 m × 2.4 m or wider; we print up to 5 m wide in one piece. A desk or podium backdrop for a talk works at 2 m × 1 m. For a hotel corridor or a photo-booth corner, 2 m × 2 m fits where a full wall will not. Enter any size on the product and the price updates live.
PVC or fabric
Standard step and repeat banners are 440 gsm PVC with hemmed edges and eyelets, which ties to a frame, a truss or a wall and survives being rolled, transported and reused across a season. PVC has a slight sheen; a camera flash head-on can glare, so photographers shoot slightly off-axis or diffuse the flash. For a seamless, matt, flash-friendly wall, we quote fabric on request: it costs more and needs a tension frame, but it photographs flat.
Stands and frames
The banner is supplied with eyelets, so it cable-ties to anything rigid: a telescopic backdrop stand, a pipe-and-drape kit, scaffold truss or a wall with hooks. A telescopic stand for a 2.4 m wall is light enough for one person to carry and set up in ten minutes; ask us to quote one with the banner. On a stand, tension the banner from the corners first, then the middle eyelets, so the surface pulls flat.
Who orders them
Award nights and charity galas (sponsor logos), product launches and press days (one brand, repeated), conferences (event mark and partner logos behind the speaker), weddings and birthdays (a monogram or hashtag), and school proms. Agencies ordering for a client usually ask for the artwork file back so it can be reused; we supply it.
Timing
Free proof first, one to two working days production after approval, free UK delivery that takes three to four working days after dispatch, and a paid next-day option when the event is close. London customers can collect from our workshop in E1, which is often the quickest route for a last-minute press wall.
Step and repeat banners FAQs
What size should a step and repeat banner be?
2.4m × 2.4m (8ft × 8ft) is the classic press-wall size for standing photos; 3m × 2.4m fits groups. For a desk or podium backdrop, 2m × 1m works. Enter any size on the product page and the price updates instantly.
How big should the logos be?
Around 20–25cm wide, repeated diagonally with 10–15cm gaps, so at least one full logo appears over each shoulder in a head-and-shoulders photo. Send the files and we lay the pattern out for you.
Do you supply the stand?
The banner comes hemmed with eyelets so it cable-ties to a frame, truss or wall. Tell us if you need a telescopic backdrop stand and we will quote one with the order.
Is it reusable?
Yes — PVC rolls up and stores. Many clients reuse the same sponsor wall across a season of events.
What are step and repeat backdrops used for?
Red-carpet arrivals, award nights, product launches, conference media walls and corporate events — anywhere guests are photographed for press or social media. We print custom sizes for indoor and outdoor use; the standard media wall is 2.4m × 2.4m on PVC and we quote fabric for seamless wide walls on request.
